Meet Your “Factory Farmer”

Posted by: Melissa on October 21, 2009

aburkholder1The beef checkoff has engaged 2009 Beef Quality Assurance Award winner Anne Burkholder of Will Feed, Inc., in Cozad, Neb. (practically a neighbor!), in an outreach campaign designed to educate consumers – specifically, moms – about what farmers and ranchers are doing to care for animals and produce safe, wholesome products. Two recent interviews resulted in coverage on MomLogic.com and 5 Minutes for Mom, called one of the best mom blogs by The Wall Street Journal. In addition, the checkoff has produced a re-cut of Anne’s BQA Award video to make it edgier and harder-hitting. Now called “I Am a Factory Farmer,” the video directly combats the “factory farmer” label by clearly pointing out that Anne’s operation isn’t a “factory,” but a large family business that allows her to provide the safe, nutritious and wholesome beef moms like her want to feed their kids. The new video is available on the checkoff’s Explore Beef YouTube Channel.
